Future Visions: Special Talk on Expo Legacy at Miraikan
Miraikan hosts "Expo and Shaping the Future Special Talk" on April 12, 2026. Explore Expo legacies, Odaiba's connection to expos, and future-building with experts across three insightful sessions.
The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) will host a special talk event titled "Expo and Shaping the Future." This event is part of the exhibition "Michi and Connecting Exhibition Expo and Shaping the Future."
The discussion will focus on what legacies from the Osaka-Kansai Expo can be inherited and how they can be passed on to the future. Experts will also delve into the relationship between expos and Odaiba, the area where Miraikan is located.
The event features three sessions:
Session 1: Where is "Komyaku" Going?
Following the release of guidelines for secondary creations of the Expo's "ID" (nicknamed "Komyaku"), this session will explore how intellectual property born from public projects can be preserved and how citizens can participate sustainably.
Session 2: Expo and Miraikan - Can Odaiba/Tokyo Be an Expo Site?
Focusing on Odaiba, the site of the "Phantom Urban Expo" that was never realized, this session will examine the history of expos and discuss what kind of expos are possible in Tokyo today.
Session 3: Beyond the Expo - How to Build the Future?
This session looks beyond the immediate impact of the Expo, discussing how creations and relationships born from it, such as the cardiac patch and the "MIRAIL Human Washing Machine," can continue to spread and evolve within society after the exhibition ends.
Join us for insightful discussions that will shape our vision of the future.
