Nuit Blanche KYOTO 2025: Contemporary Art Festival Focuses on Artist Residencies

The highly anticipated contemporary art festival, "Nuit Blanche KYOTO," is set to illuminate Kyoto again in autumn 2025.

Organized annually by the City of Kyoto and the Franco-Japanese Institute in Kansai, this event draws inspiration from Paris's "Nuit Blanche." Marking its 15th edition, this year's festival presents a special collaboration with "*** in Residence Kyoto."

A key highlight is the festival's first-ever focus on artist-in-residence programs. Six artists from five French groups, selected through an open call, will stay in Kyoto for approximately one month, showcasing the results of their creative activities. Additionally, unique residency facilities across the city will open their doors to the public, offering a diverse range of programs.

The event kicks off with a "Special Day" on Saturday, September 27th, featuring a free admission opening at the Kyoto Station Building Plaza. While the opening day is free, some venues will host paid programs throughout the festival period until October 4th.
