Kiso Hinoki Aroma Oil Making Workshop at Nagoya City Science Museum, Aug 21-22, 2026. For elementary students & guardians. Free (guardian admission fee applies).
The Nagoya City Science Museum, located at 2-17-1 Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya, will host the "Let's Make Kiso Hinoki Aroma Oil! Participant Recruitment" event from August 21st to 22nd, 2026.
This workshop offers participants a chance to learn about the connection between Kiso and Nagoya through the Kiso River while experimenting with distilling Kiso cypress chips to extract essential oil and distilled water. A craft activity to make a fragrant hinoki pom-pom is also included, making it an excellent summer holiday activity for families.
The event will be held three times over two days, allowing participants to choose their preferred session. There will be one afternoon session on Friday and two sessions (morning and afternoon) on Saturday. The venue for these hands-on experiments is the laboratory on the 6th floor of the Life Science Building at the Nagoya City Science Museum.

How to Apply
Applications can be submitted via return postcard or online through the Nagoya City Electronic Application Service. For postcard applications, please include the event name, desired date and time, names and birthdates of all participants, the child's grade level, address, and phone number, along with the return address. For online applications, search for "Kiso Hinoki" on the Nagoya City Electronic Application Service, select your preferred session, and fill in the required details.
