FUJI Railway Hiroba Event on April 29th: Drive a Steam Locomotive!

Get ready for a special railway event at the FUJI Railway Hiroba, located in the outdoor exhibition area of the Nagoya City Science Museum! On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, just before Golden Week, a unique regular event will take place.

Experience Driving a Steam Locomotive & Explore Historic Cars!

The highlight of this event is the "B6 Steam Locomotive Driving Experience." This is a rare opportunity to operate the locomotive's driving wheels by handling the regulator valve, similar to a car's accelerator. Feel the authentic sound and vibrations from the driver's cabin as the wheels turn!

Applications for the driving experience are required in advance and will be decided by lottery, so interested individuals should apply early. Additionally, the interior of the "Kuyōsha (Imperial Procession Carriage) No. 344" and a "Nagoya City Tram" will be open for public viewing, offering a glimpse into these historic vehicles. Volunteers knowledgeable about railways will also provide live commentary near the exhibits, sharing fascinating details about the trains.
