June 2026 Kimono Events at Matsuzakaya Nagoya
Matsuzakaya Nagoya will host multiple kimono-related events from June 2 to August 3, 2026, including summer kimonos, Shichi-Go-San outfits, used kimonos, children's yukatas, and a yukata collection.
Matsuzakaya Nagoya Department Store, located in Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya, will host a series of kimono-related events throughout June 2026. These events, primarily held on the 6th floor of the main building, will feature a variety of traditional Japanese attire and accessories suitable for the summer season.
Summer Kimono Showcase
From June 3rd (Wed) to June 16th (Tue), the kimono section on the 6th floor of the main building will present kimonos made from cotton and linen materials, ideal for July and August. Featured items include Ojiya-chijimi, Noto-jofu, Miyako-jōfu, and Omi-chijimi, offering a selection of elegant summer wear.
Shichi-Go-San Formal Wear Custom Order Fair
Concurrently, from June 3rd (Wed) to June 16th (Tue), the children's kimono section on the 6th floor will host a custom order event for Shichi-Go-San (a traditional rite of passage for young children). Customers can design a unique formal outfit, from fabric selection to auspicious patterns. A special offer for orders over ¥330,000 (tax included) includes a voucher for Shichi-Go-San photography at a partner studio.
Nagamonochaya 'Yūkyōyūko Exhibition' (Used Kimono)
From June 10th (Wed) to June 15th (Mon), the Nagamonochaya section on the 6th floor will feature a curated collection of high-quality used kimonos and textiles from 'Yūkyōyūko' in Northern Kyoto. The owner of Yūkyōyūko, Fumiko Kano, is scheduled to attend on the first day.
Children's Yukata Festival
Between June 17th (Wed) and June 30th (Tue), the children's kimono section on the 6th floor will host a festival for children's yukatas. Purchases of ¥11,000 or more in yukata-related items will grant a chance to win prizes in a lottery. Those who come in yukata and spend ¥5,500 or more will receive a small gift.
2026 MATSUZAKAYA YUKATA COLLECTION
From June 17th (Wed) to August 3rd (Mon), the Organ Plaza on the 1st floor of the South Building will present a yukata collection themed around yukata as fashion. The event will showcase total coordination with obi sashes and accessories, featuring popular items including those made from Toray's highly absorbent and quick-drying 'Sea-alpha' material. Several special events are planned during this period, including yukata self-styling and obi tying workshops by kimono consultant Shino Kajiura, a yukata fashion show by Nanzan University and Vantan Design Institute, and a NEO yukata styling session by Kobayashi Toyoko Kimono Gakuin.
