Urban Sports Event: Stair Climbing Challenge

This event is the Nagoya competition of "stair climbing," an urban sport where participants race up outdoor stairs, starting from the TV Tower Plaza on the south side of the Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER. Participants will challenge their best time by ascending 415 steps over a height of 90 meters to reach the observation deck. The competition features a wide range of categories including parent-child, elementary school students, junior high school students, university students, general participants, and teams, with approximately 550 participants expected, ranging from elementary schoolers to those in their 70s. This offers a unique opportunity to witness the excitement of stair racing, which is gaining popularity both domestically and internationally, up close around Hisaya Odori Park.

"SJC" Japan Series Round 1 Also Held Concurrently

This event also serves as the first round of the "Stair Climbing Japan Circuit (SJC)," Japan's premier stair racing series. Top selected athletes from the five national tournaments will compete fiercely for the titles of "King of Stairs" and "Queen of Stairs." Elite category races are scheduled for the evening, promising high-level performances from top athletes.

Special Guests Expected

Celebrity guests scheduled to appear include Kenji Moriwaki, who will serve as the Nagoya Tournament's cheering squad leader, and Takahiro Ogata from the comedy duo Panther. Also attending are running influencer Hitomi "Kyassuru" Mii, Poruporu Family, and world champion stair climber Ryoji Watanabe, all of whom are expected to energize the venue.
