Tokyo Solamachi Omikoshi Wasshoi! Festival in September 2026

Tokyo Solamachi will host "Tokyo Solamachi Omikoshi Wasshoi!", an event to experience traditional Japanese culture. This event, held with the cooperation of the Koume 1-chome Neighborhood Association, features an exhibition of portable shrines (omikoshi), traditional performing arts, and even an omikoshi carrying experience. Omikoshi Exhibition and Traditional Performances

During the event period, a portable shrine from the Koume 1-chome Neighborhood Association will be displayed in the 1st-floor Entrance Space, Spot 12. This is a rare opportunity to admire an omikoshi up close. Furthermore, on September 19th (Sat) and 20th (Sun), lion dances and traditional festival music (ohayashi) will be performed at the 1st-floor Hanami-zaka Plaza, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Thrilling Omikoshi Carrying Experience

The highlight of the event is the omikoshi carrying experience, scheduled for 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM on both September 19th (Sat) and 20th (Sun). Participants will gather at the 1st-floor Sorami-zaka Plaza and then carry the portable shrine along a route from Entrance Space, Spot 12, to Solamachi Plaza. This is a unique chance to feel the weight of the omikoshi and the energy of the participants firsthand. Approximately 30 people are expected per session, and participation is free.
