Tokyo Skytree Town® "Uchimizu" Event: Experience Japanese Tradition

Tokyo Solamachi will host the "Tokyo Skytree Town® Summer Cool "Uchimizu"" event, a traditional Japanese summer custom.

Experience "Uchimizu," a Traditional Japanese Way to Beat the Heat

"Uchimizu," the act of sprinkling water on the ground, is an age-old Japanese practice not only for cooling down during hot summers but also as a welcoming gesture. This event allows participants to experience this eco-friendly method of heat mitigation that requires no electricity. Further emphasizing sustainability, Tokyo Solamachi utilizes rainwater collected on-site.

Cool Down with Ice Pillars

This year's "Uchimizu" event features the addition of ice pillars, offering a visually refreshing display and a chance to feel the cool sensation firsthand. The necessary tools, such as dippers and buckets, will be provided, making it easy for anyone to join.

Special Guests and Local Charm

On August 8th (Saturday), sumo stablemaster Narutoyakata, wrestlers from the Narutobeya stable, and Sorakara-chan will be present. On August 9th (Sunday), wrestlers from Narutobeya stable and Sorakara-chan will join the event. Visitors can enjoy the charm of the traditional downtown Tokyo atmosphere while cooling off at Solamachi.
