42nd Botanical Art Competition Exhibition at National Museum of Nature and Science

The National Museum of Nature and Science is hosting the "42nd Botanical Art Competition Exhibition" showcasing selected botanical artworks. Runs from July 1 to July 21, 2025.

The "42nd Botanical Art Competition Exhibition" will be held at the National Museum of Nature and Science, located in Ueno Park, Taito-ku, Tokyo. This special exhibition is part of educational support activities to deepen understanding of nature and will showcase selected botanical artworks from across the country.

Competition Overview and Exhibited Works

This competition received 783 entries nationwide, from which 66 works were selected for various awards, including the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, the National Museum of Nature and Science Director-General Award, and the Tsukuba Botanical Garden Director Award. The exhibition will feature these award-winning and selected pieces. For example, in the elementary school division, "Hoteiatsumorisou" by Fumino Shiozaki received the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, and in the junior high and high school division, "Murasaki Cabbage" by Haruma Takashio received the same award. The Director-General Award of the National Museum of Nature and Science went to "Kimenkaku" by Ichiko Yamamoto in the elementary school division and "Akita-buki" by Keika Okabayashi in the junior high and high school division. These works are all masterpieces that capture the delicate beauty and vitality of plants from the artist's perspective.

About the Venue

The National Museum of Nature and Science is an indoor exhibition facility, allowing visitors to enjoy the artworks regardless of the weather. Access

The nearest stations are JR Ueno Station, Tokyo Metro Ueno Station, and JR Okachimachi Station. All are within walking distance, but using the Park Exit from JR Ueno Station is convenient. Public transportation provides good access, making it easy to visit.
