20th Nishi Ward Hama Walking Festival at PACIFICO Yokohama

The 20th Nishi Ward Hama Walking Festival, aimed at promoting health and rediscovering the charm of Nishi Ward, Yokohama, will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2026. This milestone 20th edition features courses that allow participants to enjoy the history, nature, and harbor scenery of Nishi Ward.

Event Overview

This festival offers an opportunity for participants to engage in enjoyable health activities while discovering new attractions in Nishi Ward. For this special 20th anniversary, all participants will receive a commemorative badge, and a lottery with attractive prizes will be held at the finish venue. The finish venue is planned to be near the tidal pond in Rinko Park, offering a scenic conclusion with views of the Minatomirai area.

Two Walking Courses to Choose From

Participants can select from two courses based on their fitness level and preferences:

• Course 1: "Explore and Walk 10,000 Steps"
  • Distance: Approx. 7.2 km
  • Estimated Time: 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Registration Time: 8:45 AM - 9:15 AM
• Course 2: "A Little Walk, 7,000 Steps"
  • Distance: Approx. 5.6 km
  • Estimated Time: 2 hours
  • Registration Time: 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM

Both courses are designed to showcase the unique landscapes of Nishi Ward, allowing participants to experience the local area's appeal more deeply through walking. Detailed course information is available on the official promotional flyer.

Registration and Fees

Advance registration is mandatory, and applications will close once the capacity (1,200 participants on a first-come, first-served basis) is reached. The application period is from Friday, October 9, 2026, to Friday, November 6, 2026, but early registration is highly recommended.

• Participation Fee (Pay on the day):
  • General (High School Students and above): 700 yen
  • Elementary and Junior High School Students: 200 yen
  • Preschoolers: Free
• Payment Methods: Transportation IC cards (Suica, PASMO, etc.) or cash.

Applications can be made via the online application form, by phone at 045-320-8390, or in person at Window 48 on the 4th floor of the Nishi Ward Office. After applying, a "Guidance Postcard" will be mailed around mid-November, which must be brought on the day of the event.

Venue Access

• Start Venue: Tobe Park Athletic Field (Nishi-ku Chuo 1-18)
  • 8-minute walk from Tobe Station on the Keikyu Line
  • 10-minute walk from Hiranumabashi Station on the Sotetsu Line
• Finish Venue: Rinko Park Tidal Pond (Minatomirai 1)
  • Nearest Stations: JR Yokohama Station / Minatomirai Line Minatomirai Station

As the start and finish venues are different, it is important to check access routes in advance. Rinko Park, the finish venue, is located in the Minatomirai district and is an open park offering panoramic views of Yokohama Port.

Important Notes

Participants must complete the course by 12:30 PM. Children in elementary school or younger must be accompanied by a guardian. While the organizers have comprehensive injury insurance, coverage is limited, so participants should exercise caution for their own safety. Wheelchairs and strollers are accommodated, but some parts of the course are sloped. Event details may be changed or canceled due to weather or other circumstances.
