Understand Cosmology: Participant Recruitment at Nagoya City Science Museum

The Nagoya City Science Museum will host "Understand Cosmology: Participant Recruitment." This program is designed for junior high and high school students who have not yet studied university-level mathematics. It aims to logically decipher the meaning of mathematical formulas underlying the "Standard Model," the foundation of modern particle physics, and to help participants grasp its overall picture.

The program begins with the visually intuitive concept of "color charge (SU(3))," then moves on to the concept of "symmetry" in the world of elementary particles, and gradually explains the mechanism of phenomena where particle types change (weak interaction). Participants can experience how mathematics learned in school is applied to unravel cutting-edge physical laws and understand the importance of logical thinking using mathematics in natural science.
