Join the Nagoya Castle Forest Project Tree Care Tour 2026 in Kiso on Nov 1, 2026. Features tree care, Tsumago-juku walk, and woodworking.
The "Nagoya Castle Forest Project Tree Care Tour 2026 in Kiso" will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026. This tour aims to preserve the rich natural environment of the upper Kiso River basin, which nurtures the Kiso cypress trees extensively used at Nagoya Castle, and to promote exchange between upstream and downstream areas. Participants can engage in tree care activities at the "Nagoya Citizens' Forest," fostering a deeper understanding of forests and trees.
The program includes a guided walk through the historic Tsumago-juku post town and a hands-on woodworking experience. This is a day-trip tour with lunch provided, departing from and returning to the Aichi Prefectural Government Center (Sannomaru, Naka-ku, Nagoya City). The tour will travel to Kiso Town and Minami-machi in Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture.
Participation fees are 8,500 yen for junior high school students and older, and 4,500 yen for elementary school students. The itinerary features tree care at the Nagoya Citizens' Forest, a break and shopping at the "Michi no Eki Kisofukushima" roadside station, lunch, a stroll through Tsumago-juku, and a choice between making a cypress coaster or a cypress artificial flower. Applications are accepted from September 1 to September 30, 2026, via a dedicated website. Capacity is limited to 40 participants, and selection will be by lottery if applications exceed the limit.
Access to the assembly point at the Aichi Prefectural Government Center is convenient from Nagoya Station.
