Kepuran Greeting 2026 at Miraikan: Last Chance to Meet the Robot Before Update
Miraikan hosts 'Kepuran Greeting 2026' on Sep 26-27, 2026. A free event to interact with the robot Kepuran before its major update and museum renovation.
The "Kepuran Greeting 2026" event will be held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), located at 2-3-6 Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo, on Saturday, September 26th, and Sunday, September 27th, 2026. This event offers a final opportunity to interact with Miraikan's original partner robot, Kepuran, in its current form before the museum undergoes a significant renovation and temporarily closes from October 2026 to April 2027.
Interact with Kepuran Before its Upgrade
Kepuran, whose slogan is "A partner robot that interacts with you and changes," was born in July 2023 and arrived at Miraikan in November of the same year. Since then, it has engaged in numerous interactions with visitors. This special event, held after museum hours, will feature a greeting time where attendees can take photos with Kepuran. Additionally, science communicators will explain Kepuran's origins and the technology behind its movements. A retrospective display of photos and videos from Kepuran's activities will also be available.
Kepuran's Future Updates
During the renovation period from October 2026 to April 2027, Kepuran is scheduled for substantial upgrades. These include developing walking capabilities for independent movement, increasing its size, and enhancing its sensors to better perceive its surroundings. This event serves as a unique chance to meet Kepuran before these significant changes.
