World Link Door: Future Mobility Experience at Miraikan (Odaiba)
Experience future mobility with MR technology at Miraikan, Odaiba. Participate in a space mission via "World Link Door" demo experiment. Free entry.
The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in Odaiba, Tokyo, is hosting a demonstration experiment titled "World Link Door ~ Future Mobility Experience Connecting the World Through Doors." This event offers a chance to experience cutting-edge mixed reality (MR) technology, which aims to create a sense of presence as if one has physically traveled to another world by interacting with a real door.
Experience the Future of Mobility
As part of the "Labs for Creating the Future" initiative, this experiment allows participants to engage with technologies currently under development. By opening a virtual door, you can simulate the experience of instantly moving from your current location to diverse destinations, such as a workplace, a travel spot, or even outer space. Using a head-mounted display and a physical door, the technology seamlessly bridges the gap between the real and virtual, demonstrating the potential for future social activities that transcend time and space.
Challenge a Space Mission
During the experiment, participants will don a head-mounted display and pass through a real and virtual door connected to outer space to embark on a mission. The challenge involves navigating a narrow path in a simulated space environment, collecting designated items (space rocks), and returning safely to Miraikan. By participating, you contribute your experiences to the ongoing research and development of future mobility solutions.
Participation Details
This demonstration is recommended for individuals in 4th grade and above. Please note that participants wearing glasses cannot experience the MR simulation. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participation is free of charge, although separate admission fees apply for permanent exhibitions, special exhibitions, and the dome theater.
