Enjoy 'Sky Journey of Clouds' with Cloud Researcher at Miraikan

The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in Koto-ku, Tokyo, will host the event "Enjoying 'Sky Journey of Clouds' with a Cloud Researcher" on Saturday, September 19, 2026. This event aims to provide a deeper appreciation of the immersive 4K video work "Sky Journey of Clouds," which blends cutting-edge visual expression with meteorological research, in collaboration with cloud researcher Kentaro Araki.

Dive into the World of "Sky Journey of Clouds"

"Sky Journey of Clouds" is a 5-minute installation piece that uses stereoscopic spatial audio and visuals of clouds changing from dawn to dusk to create an experience as if one is traveling through the clouds. Kentaro Araki, who supervised this work, will be present at the event to explain the piece and share the wonders of cloud science. Through his explanations, attendees can discover new perspectives on the sky and clouds they casually observe every day.

Interactive Programs for Participants

This event emphasizes interactive communication with participants. Firstly, a "My Cloud/Sky Photo" session will invite participants to submit photos of clouds and skies they have taken. These photos will be displayed during the event, with Araki providing commentary on the meteorological phenomena and clouds depicted. Furthermore, a Q&A session will be held where Araki will answer questions submitted in advance by attendees who have viewed the "Sky Journey of Clouds" work and felt curious or wondered about it. Question submissions will be accepted from Wednesday, July 29, 2026, to Thursday, August 20, 2026, in front of the Innovation Hall.
