Workshop "Preparing for Earthquakes from Daily Life" at Miraikan
Workshop at Miraikan in Odaiba on August 14, 2026, focusing on earthquake preparedness through lessons from daily life experiences.
A workshop titled "Preparing for Earthquakes from Daily Life" will be held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in Odaiba on August 14, 2026. This event aims to teach participants how to prepare for disasters by drawing lessons from minor inconveniences experienced in daily life.
Learning from Everyday Experiences
Just as we learn from incidents like getting caught in the rain or forgetting something, this workshop applies that "learning from experience" mindset to earthquake preparedness. Participants will explore potential damages and difficulties caused by earthquakes and discuss possible preparations with science communicators. While the mechanisms of earthquakes are increasingly understood, predicting their exact timing and location remains challenging. Therefore, continuously thinking about how to face and prepare for earthquakes in our daily lives is crucial. The workshop suggests that hints for preparedness might be found within our everyday actions. Through dialogue with family, other participants, and Miraikan's science communicators, attendees can collectively consider future preparations.
