The Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) in Odaiba will host "Solar System Observation Across Time: The Night Sky Before Us," a live commentary event. This event aims to deepen understanding of the solar system in a year marked by significant interest in space exploration. Following recent advancements such as NASA's crewed lunar missions and JAXA's "Hayabusa2" asteroid exploration, participants will experience humanity's journey of solar system discovery and its future prospects within the immersive dome theater.

How to Participate and Important Notes

This event requires advance registration by lottery. A free Miraikan ID is necessary to apply. The application period for the August 15th session is July 24, 2026 (Fri) 11:00 - August 3, 2026 (Mon). For the August 22nd session, it is July 24, 2026 (Fri) 11:00 - August 11, 2026 (Tue). If a child is participating, a parent or guardian must register with their Miraikan ID and add the child's information under family settings. Footage and photographs may be taken during the event and used on Miraikan's official website and reports. Please inform staff at the reception if you do not wish to be filmed. Support for subtitles and other accessibility needs can be arranged upon consultation.

Access

Miraikan is located approximately a 5-minute walk from Tokyo Big Sight Station on the Yurikamome Line or Kokusai-Tenjijo Station on the Rinkai Line. The address is 2-3-6 Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo. As it is an indoor facility, you can enjoy the event regardless of the weather.
