The "Don't Look Painting Exhibition" will be held at Sapporo Factory in Chuo-ku, Sapporo, from October 2, 2026, to November 23, 2026. This exhibition, which has attracted over 50,000 visitors in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, is a new type of "immersive" painting exhibition. This will be its first appearance in Hokkaido, showcasing all the "forbidden to look" artworks that have been displayed previously.

"Forbidden to Look" Artworks Gather in Sapporo

At first glance, the artworks may appear ordinary. However, each painting holds a "story" that, once known, can alter the viewer's perception. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the question of why these paintings are "forbidden to look" and to immerse themselves deeply in the world of the art. It's important to note that not everything presented in the exhibition may be factual, adding another layer of intrigue. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the works using their own sensibilities to discover new insights and interpretations.

Timed Entry for an Enhanced Viewing Experience

The exhibition features different pricing for weekdays and weekends/holidays, with measures in place to enhance the viewing experience. Weekday admission is 2,000 yen (tax included), while weekend and holiday admission is 2,300 yen (tax included). Weekends and holidays are on a timed-entry basis, allowing admission within the operating hours of the specified date. This system aims to alleviate congestion and provide a more relaxed environment for appreciating the art. Last admission is at 6:30 PM. Tickets are required for all visitors aged elementary school and above.

Conveniently Located Near Sapporo and Odori Stations

The venue is the special exhibition hall on the 2nd floor of Sapporo Factory's 1-jo Building, easily accessible from JR Sapporo Station and Subway Odori Station. It is located next to Lawson and United Cinemas Sapporo, making it easy to find. Sapporo Factory is a large complex with shops and restaurants, allowing visitors to enjoy shopping and dining before or after the event. As an indoor facility, it offers a comfortable experience regardless of the weather.
