Exhibition Focuses on "Inns" Nurturing Local Culture

This exhibition, the 38th curated by d47 MUSEUM, centers around the theme of "inns" and features 47 "masters" (owners, managers, or key staff) selected from across Japan's 47 prefectures. In contemporary times, inns are evolving from mere places to stay into hubs for cultural experiences, learning, and interaction. Amidst diverse travel styles such as deep regional exploration, workations, micro-tourism rediscovering local charms, and regenerative tourism contributing to environmental and regional recovery, inns are increasingly serving as cultural hotspots and gathering places for both travelers and local residents.

The exhibition introduces these "masters" who are actively involved in creating such unique lodging experiences. It delves into their individual philosophies and perspectives, showcasing the distinctive accommodation experiences and initiatives born from their passion for their respective regions, and their ability to curate and highlight local attractions. Visitors can gain insights into 47 different approaches to hospitality and regional engagement, potentially discovering new ways to travel and appreciate local culture.

Special Shop and Diverse Events

A special shop will be set up at the venue, offering a selection of travel and accommodation-related goods and souvenirs chosen by the 47 "masters." The official exhibition book will also be available for purchase. Throughout the exhibition period, talk events will be held featuring these "masters" as guests, exploring their philosophies on inn management, community involvement, and the role of inns in fostering culture. Additionally, an audio guide featuring the "masters'" voices will be distributed via Podcast, offering a deeper engagement with the exhibition's themes.
