d47 Rakugo Vol. 32 "Kumamoto": Yanagiya Karyu Performs New Rakugo in Shibuya Hikarie

The "d47 Rakugo Vol. 32 "Kumamoto" "d design travel KUMAMOTO" Publication Commemorative Event" will be held at 8/COURT in Shibuya Hikarie on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. This event celebrates the publication of the Kumamoto prefecture edition of "d design travel," a travel guide series that explores Japanese regions from a design perspective. It offers a unique opportunity to experience a new rakugo performance themed around Kumamoto, presented by renowned rakugoka Yanagiya Karyu.

The event is structured in three parts. It begins with a performance of a classical rakugo piece. This is followed by a modern interpretation, a new rakugo piece about Kumamoto, performed by Yanagiya Karyu in Western attire while seated on a chair. The program also includes a talk show where the creative process behind the new rakugo piece will be shared. This project, a collaboration between Yanagiya Karyu and Seido Fujii, aims to showcase the distinct character and charm of each of Japan's 47 prefectures through the art of rakugo.

"8/COURT" is located within Shibuya Hikarie, a large complex directly connected to Shibuya Station, making it easily accessible. The venue is indoors, ensuring a comfortable experience regardless of the weather. Seating is general admission, allowing attendees to choose their preferred spot from the opening time of 6:00 PM.
