Food "Mottainai" Sale & Discount Market at Matsuzakaya Ueno

Matsuzakaya Ueno is hosting a special food event to combat rising prices, featuring the "Food Mottainai Sale" and "Food Discount Market." This event will gather approximately 110,000 items with special conditions, offering a great opportunity for shoppers to purchase food at reduced prices.

The "Mottainai Sale" for Reasonably Priced Goods

The "Food Mottainai Sale" focuses on items that might otherwise be discarded due to approaching best-by dates, packaging changes, or being slightly outside standard specifications. By offering these products at special prices, the sale helps reduce food waste while allowing consumers to save money. It's a chance to find unique bargains and contribute to a sustainable cause.

The "Food Discount Market" with Great Deals

Alongside the "Mottainai Sale," the "Food Discount Market" will offer a variety of food products at attractive prices. Unlike the "Mottainai Sale," these items are typically within quality standards but are available at a special, limited-time discount. This section is ideal for stocking up on staples or trying premium food items that might usually be out of reach. Exploring both areas will maximize your chances of finding excellent deals.

Practical Information for Visitors

The event will take place on the 6th floor event hall of Matsuzakaya Ueno. It runs from Wednesday, October 7, 2026, to Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Please note that event details may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, so checking the official website for the latest information is recommended. Items may sell out, so early visits are advised. Be aware that media photography may occur during the event.
