Fukuoka PARCO "Tenjin Lab 2026" Event: Art Project Revival

Fukuoka PARCO's main building 1F POPUP SPACE GATE will host the special project "Tenjin Lab 2026" from Wednesday, October 14 to Sunday, October 25, 2026.

"Tenjin Lab" was an art project held from 2012 to 2015, attracting over 100 participating creators. It served as a platform for discovering and promoting emerging artists from Kyushu, fostering encounters between creators and visitors, and functioning as an incubation space for their subsequent activities. This revival, after an 11-year hiatus, centers around the theme "Aging and Progression." Eight artists who participated in the past will reunite to exhibit and sell their current works.

The venue, the 1F POPUP SPACE GATE, will feature works by yatotto by KAZUHIKO IFUKU, Kenta Kakikawa, Riichiro Shinozaki, and Chika Shirakawa during the first period (October 14-19), followed by works by witness, WOK22, YUH TAKUNO, and Cigarette-burns in the second period (October 20-25).

Furthermore, the "Staircase Museum," where artists' works directly painted on the walls during the original project remain, will be open to the public, utilizing the building's staircases. Archive panels introducing participating artists' memories and production episodes will also be displayed. Visitors can trace the timeline connected by "Tenjin Lab," experiencing both the present creations of artists who have continued their work and the expressions left from the past in this space.

In anticipation of the event, a live painting session by Cigarette-burns, a participating artist in the 2014 and 2015 "Tenjin Lab" events, will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the main building's 1F main entrance. This event, coinciding with Fukuoka PARCO's final year of operation after 16 years of contributing to Fukuoka and Tenjin's culture, highlights the encounters born through "Tenjin Lab" and the ongoing creative activities.

Admission to this event is free. The surrounding area offers numerous commercial facilities for shopping and dining.
