Event at Miraikan on Aug 20, 2026, exploring Physical AI, featuring talks on AI robots and autonomous driving projects, with lab tours.

見て、考えて、動くAI ~フィジカルAIで未来はどう変わる?

The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in Tokyo's Odaiba area will host an event titled "See, Think, Act AI: How Will the Future Change with Physical AI?" on August 20, 2026. This event delves into the concept of Physical AI, which combines an AI "brain" with a physical "body" like robots or cars, enabling them to perceive their surroundings, make decisions, and act upon them.

Understanding Physical AI
Unlike conventional AI often associated with conversation or image generation, Physical AI is designed for real-world interaction. Miraikan's "Research Area" features two new projects in this domain: the "AI Robot Living Lab" project aiming for versatile robots for homes and stores, and the "Open Source Autonomous Driving" project fostering global collaboration in self-driving technology.

Event Program
The event features talks by the researchers leading these initiatives, followed by guided tours of their respective laboratories. The talks will include an introduction, detailed presentations of each project, and a discussion on the future impact of Physical AI. The tours offer a firsthand look at the research environment.

  • Researcher Talks
    • 13:30-13:35: Introduction
    • 13:35-13:55: Part 1: "AI Robot Living Lab" Project Introduction
