Imagine the Future of Medicine: Science Agora 2026 Session at Miraikan

A session titled "Imagine the Future of Medicine from Various Perspectives!" will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, as part of "Science Agora 2026" at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in Odaiba.

This session aims to collaboratively explore the future of medicine, where diseases can be predicted and prevented before they occur. Organized by JST Moonshot Goal 2 and Miraikan, the event will introduce the latest research findings and foster discussions on the hopes and concerns surrounding future medical advancements. Last year's similar session attracted a wide range of participants, from elementary school students to adults.

The session will feature presentations by Hironobu Endo (National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology), Yuichiro Yada (Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine), and Yukitaka Kiya (The University of Tokyo Institute of Medical Science), who will share insights from their respective fields. Dr. Endo will discuss research on visualizing brain pathology in neurodegenerative diseases, Dr. Yada will present on developing technologies to predict disease progression, and Mr. Kiya will address the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of implementing early prediction and prevention technologies. A science communicator from Miraikan will facilitate the discussion.

While the session itself was by-invitation-only with a lottery system (applications closed on August 28, 2026), on-site viewing is open to the public without prior registration. The session will take place from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM (assembly at 10:20 AM) on the 5th floor of the Telecom Center Building, Open Space E. Admission is free, but participants will need to collect a wristband on the first floor. The event is part of the larger "Science Agora 2026" held on September 12-13.

The Telecom Center Building is conveniently located in Odaiba, accessible from Tokyo Big Sight Station on the Yurikamome Line and Kokusai-Tenjijo Station on the Rinkai Line. As it is an indoor venue, you can attend regardless of the weather.
