Sapporo Factory in Chuo-ku, Sapporo is recruiting "Light-up Kids 2026" to participate in the countdown and switch-on ceremony for their annual Jumbo Christmas Tree. This beloved event, held since Sapporo Factory's opening in 1993, marks its 34th year.

About the Jumbo Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Jumbo Christmas Tree, decorated with LED lights and ornaments, is annually donated by Hiroo Town, Hiroo District, Hokkaido. The ceremony to illuminate this magnificent tree for the first time will take place at Sapporo Factory Atrium B1 on November 3, 2026 (Tuesday, holiday) starting at 5:00 PM (scheduled). This offers children a memorable experience of pressing the lighting switch.

Light-up Kids 2026 Recruitment Details

"Light-up Kids" are children aged 3 to 6th grade as of November 3, 2026. Applications are accepted from Friday, September 4, 2026, to Wednesday, September 30, 2026 (must arrive by this date), via postal mail using a postcard. The postcard must include the child's full name, gender, date of birth and age on the day, address, phone number, email address, and a brief reason for applying or message.

Successful candidates will be notified by phone in early October. Each child can only apply once, and one postcard is valid for one applicant. Incomplete applications will be disqualified, so please double-check all details.

Be aware that the lighting ceremony may be broadcast or published by various media outlets (TV, newspapers, social media) and within the event venue. Participants' faces and names may be included. Personal information will be managed according to the company's privacy policy, used solely for lottery, contact, and event execution, and will be promptly deleted after the event concludes.
