The "Shibuya Archive Photo Exhibition 2026" will be held at 8/COURT, Shibuya Hikarie, offering a journey through the city's past, present, and future. This exhibition is part of an archive project aimed at documenting and preserving the memories of Shibuya for future generations.

Experiencing Shibuya's Evolving Landscape

Building on last year's theme of "Shibuya's Streets," the 2026 exhibition introduces "oral histories" from residents and stakeholders, providing a more three-dimensional perspective of the city. In addition to photographs featured last year, the exhibition will showcase new historical materials, such as images of the Shibuya Station building from the late Taisho era. These visual records, combined with personal memories, will bring the city's transformation to life.

Interactive Displays of Change

The exhibition includes a map plotting Shibuya's streets and a timeline of significant events. A unique feature allows visitors to compare past streetscapes with current views using Google Street View, offering a direct visual comparison of Shibuya's evolution. This interactive approach enables a deeper understanding of the city's development, integrating both documented history and individual recollections.
