‘Eat Kumamoto’s Sustainability’ Event for ‘d design travel KUMAMOTO’ at Shibuya Hikarie

To celebrate the release of "d design travel KUMAMOTO," an event titled "Eat Kumamoto’s Sustainability" will be held at d47 Shokudo on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie. This event is part of the D&DEPARTMENT PROJECT's "d design travel" series, which explores long-life design across Japan, with the latest installment focusing on Kumamoto Prefecture.

Experience Kumamoto's Culinary Culture for an Evening

The staff of d47 Shokudo traveled throughout Kumamoto, sampling local specialties and traditional dishes, and interviewing producers to curate a special, one-day-only menu that showcases the region's unique food culture. Kumamoto, known as the "Land of Water," benefits from abundant underground water and fertile volcanic soil, nurturing distinctive local vegetables and the rice essential for Kumamoto shochu. This event offers a unique opportunity to experience the ingredients, food culture, and the people who are preserving them for the future, all through the medium of food.

In addition to a "Kumamoto Set Meal" inspired by the "d design travel KUMAMOTO" research, the event will feature a standing bar corner where guests can casually enjoy Kumamoto's sake, along with other planned activities designed to immerse attendees in Kumamoto's culinary traditions. This is a valuable chance to savor the food culture of Kumamoto without leaving Shibuya, as experienced by the d47 Shokudo staff firsthand.
