Special Exhibition "Hyakuman-goku! The Maeda Family of Kaga" Commemorating the Centennial of the Maeda Ikutoku Foundation

The Tokyo National Museum will host the special exhibition "Hyakuman-goku! The Maeda Family of Kaga" to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Maeda Ikutoku Foundation. This exhibition looks back at the history of the Kaga Maeda family, who established vast territories in the Hokuriku region and ruled domains exceeding one million koku (a unit of rice yield) throughout the Edo period.

On display will be numerous precious cultural assets inherited by the Maeda family, including the Important Cultural Property "Do-maru gusoku armor with gold lamellae and white silk lacing, worn by Maeda Toshiie," dating back to the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The exhibition delves into the essence of Kaga culture's beauty, which flourished in the castle town of Hyakuman-goku.
