DIVERSUSHI(ダイバースシ)~みんなで寿司を握って食べるワークショップ

The "DIVERSUSHI (Diverse Sushi) ~Let's Make and Eat Sushi Together Workshop" will be held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) in Odaiba on Sunday, June 21, 2026. This unique event explores ways to enjoy food without relying on sight, aiming to discover new forms of shared dining experiences for diverse individuals.

DIVERSUSHI is a portmanteau of "diversity" and "sushi," a dish easily eaten in one bite by hand. While conventional dishes can pose challenges for visually impaired individuals regarding spatial awareness or concerns about spilling, sushi offers a more accessible option by allowing direct hand-to-mouth consumption. In this workshop, participants will wear eye masks and engage in sushi-making and eating, sharpening their senses other than sight.

Through this experience, participants will share their insights and challenges, fostering a collective discussion on how to create inclusive dining environments for everyone, regardless of their visual ability. The interactions and sushi-making process will be recorded as foundational data for the "Co-Creation of Human-AI Symbiosis" project, contributing to the development of technologies beneficial to a wider audience. Dr. Yoichi Ochiai and Iori Takahashi from the University of Tsukuba will join as guest speakers to enrich the event.
